AgeInPlaceGuide Editorial Team

Last reviewed: May 2026

The AgeInPlaceGuide editorial team researches and writes guides on fall prevention, medical alerts, home safety modifications, and senior care technology.

Our work is focused on one question: what actually helps a senior stay safe and independent at home? We answer it with primary source research, real product comparisons, and plain language that does not require a medical background to understand.

What we cover

  • Fall prevention and detection — Apple Watch fall detection, dedicated medical alert systems, wearable sensors, and home hazard assessment
  • Medical alert systems — product comparisons, pricing analysis, contract terms, and monitoring center performance
  • Home modifications — grab bars, stair lifts, wheelchair ramps, walk-in tubs, and bathroom safety
  • Senior technology — smartwatches, GPS trackers, pill organizers, and hearing aids
  • Caregiver support — guides for adult children navigating care decisions for aging parents

Our approach

We cite primary sources. NCOA, AARP, AHA, FDA device clearances, and peer-reviewed studies are the backbone of any health-related claim on this site. If we cannot find a primary source for something, we say so.

We do not get paid to say something is the best. Affiliate commissions are disclosed on every commercial page. Our picks are based on research, not on who pays more.

Expert review

We are actively recruiting a credentialed gerontologist or occupational therapist to provide expert review for clinical content. Until that recruitment is complete, all health-related content is reviewed internally against primary sources and noted as such.
