Why We Built This

Helping a parent stay safe at home is one of the hardest things a family does. The products are confusing. The marketing is aggressive. And most review sites are just ads pretending to be advice.

We built AgeInPlaceGuide to cut through the noise. We read the certifications, compare the real costs, and test the devices. We write for the adult child who is Googling "best medical alert for mom" at midnight because they are worried.

How We Review Products

  • We read caregiver forums. Reddit, AgingCare, and Facebook caregiver groups tell us what real families experience — not what marketing teams want us to believe.
  • We compare real costs. Monthly fees, equipment fees, cancellation fees, and contract terms. We show the full picture, not just the starting price.
  • We test response times. We press the button and time how long it takes to reach an operator. Published response times are marketing. Ours are measured.
  • We include cons for every product. Every device has trade-offs. If a review does not mention downsides, it is an ad.
